Star Alliance is an international icon; the world’s oldest and largest airline alliance, founded in 1997 and now spanning all corners of the globe.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Star Alliance is giving Executive Traveller readers the opportunity to win big and take to the skies with up to $5,000 worth of travel to spend on international flights and upgrades with any of its 26 member airlines.
Where could that take you? With a travel period until December 31, 2023, it’s completely up to you. It could be to the centuries-old capitals of Europe, the lush tropical islands of South East Asia, or even the soaring snow-capped national parks of North America.
Best of all, Executive Traveller readers have not one but seven opportunities to win the tempting prize.
How to enter
Starting today, we’ll be publishing a daily Star Alliance-related question on our site. Every participant will have the chance to answer the question once, with each correct answer receiving an entry into the Star Alliance 25th Anniversary competition.
You’ll just need one correct answer to take part in the giveaway, but you can boost your chances of winning by answering a new question correctly each day.
Once the competition is over, we’ll pick a winner who will have up to $5,000 to spend on international flights and upgrades with Star Alliance member airlines.
Answering the question takes only a minute of your time, so be sure to bookmark it and come back daily for a chance to lock in an additional entry. We’ll also be promoting via our Instagram page, so follow @executivetraveller to make sure you don’t miss a beat.
The Competition will commence at 4pm AEST on 8 December 2022 and will conclude at 23.59pm AEST on 15 December 2022.

25 years of seamless travel experiences
More than an opportunity to acknowledge Star Alliance’s achievements, the silver milestone is a chance to celebrate its connectivity and innovations, not to mention its customer-centric vision, encapsulated by the new tagline: Together. Better. Connected.
As part of the 25th anniversary, some of the latest developments include:
- The roll-out of the world’s first airline alliance credit card – the HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card – available exclusively in Australia and offering loyalty customers of certain member airlines an array of earnable and redeemable benefits.
- The introduction of a new ‘intermodal’ system allowing travellers to easily connect between different transport ecosystems. Germany’s Deutsche Bahn railway network signed up as the first intermodal partner in August.
- The continued expansion of Star Alliance’s Biometrics platform – now available in Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich and Vienna – which enhances the travel experience by enabling a contactless journey through the different checkpoints of eligible airports.
What the future holds
The customer-centric focus doesn’t end there, with Star Alliance planning to expand its pioneering Digital Connection Service – making airport connections easier with location and map-based digital tools – and increase the accessibility of its award-winning lounges.
With 25 years of innovation under its belt and many still yet to come, Star Alliance is primed to soar even higher over the coming years and decades, bringing the world closer and creating a future that’s Together. Better. Connected.
