Marriott to open W Hotel, JW Marriott and Luxury Collection properties in Mexico – Business Traveller

Marriott International has announced plans for three all-inclusive hotels in the Mexican Caribbean.

The group will partner with developer AB Living  to add properties under its JW Marriott, Luxury Collection and W Hotels brands.

Almare, a Luxury Collection All-Inclusive Resort, Isla Mujeres is expected to open in 2024, and will feature 105 rooms, four F&B venues, two swimming pools and a beach club.

This will be followed by JW Marriott All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres in 2026, with facilities including 283 rooms, six dining venues, “several swimming pools” and an additional 53 residential units.

Finally the W All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres is also slated to open in 2026, and will offer 300 rooms, five “globally inspired restaurants, bars and lounges”, swimming pools and 9,000 square feet of events space.

The JW Marriott and W Hotels properties will be connected by a 70,000 square foot entertainment venue called The Village, which will offer F&B outlets, events space and retail shops.

Marriott launched its multi-brand all-inclusive portfolio platform in 2019, and last year announced plans to more than double the portfolio, as major hotel groups increasingly look to position themselves in the all-inclusive market.

Marriott plans to more than double all-inclusive portfolio

Accor launched its All-Inclusive Collection earlier this year, and Wyndham recently launched an all-inclusive brand in partnership with Playa Hotels and Resorts, a leading owner, operator and developer in Mexico and the Caribbean, going by the name of Alltra (which stands for ‘All-Inclusive Travel for All’).

In September Melia Hotels International also launched a new all-inclusive brand in partnership with global entertainment development company Falcon’s Beyond, and last month Hyatt announced plans to debut its all-inclusive Dreams brand in Portugal.

Commenting on the news Laurent De Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer, Marriott International, said:

“Marriott International is thrilled to collaborate with AB Living to bring JW Marriott, W Hotels, and The Luxury Collection All-Inclusive Resorts to the sunny shores of the Mexican Caribbean.

“The resorts will elevate the current hospitality offering in the destination and further expand our luxury footprint in the region.”
