Take a train ride through Nite Lites holiday light display

BROOKLYN, MI – Guests can now enjoy the Nite Lites holiday light display through the comfort of a train.

Between Nov. 24 and Dec. 31 – including holidays – motorists can drive through the nearly six miles of holiday light displays at the Michigan International Speedway, 12626 U.S. 12 near Brooklyn.

Just like previous years, the event is drive through only. However this year, people can enjoy the lights through a train ride offered by organizers, Nite Lites owner John Spink said.

“We thought it’d be something new,” Spink said. “Just a different experience – you’re more up close to the lights.”

A blue train covered in lights will be driven along the usual route. Guests are encouraged to dress for the weather, as the train is open, he said. Smaller children can also sit on their parents’ lap through the ride, he added.

People can buy a ticket for the Nite Lites Express for $60 a bench. The train can fit around 60 people, and a bench can fit up to four people, Spink said. Tickets for the Nite Lites Express can be found here.

People can expect to see several themes along the route, including “The 12 Days of Christmas,” dinosaurs, holiday music and scenes of winter. New this year will also be a Noah’s Ark display, Spink said.

“It’s toward the end of the show, and there is also a giant giraffe that you will be driving under,” Spink said.

The display is open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 5:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Cost is $30 per car Sunday through Thursday and $35 per car Friday and Saturday. Limousines or motor homes are $45 and tour buses cost $100.

Veterans and active-duty military personnel get in free on Dec. 7.

Like last year, a concession stand will be available inside of the route, where cars can pull over and grab a drink or something to eat.

Motorists will enter the display from U.S. 12. West bound traffic will use the Lot 8 Entrance, while eastbound vehicles will use Graves Farm Entrance.
