Virgin Australia’s huge flight sale starts from $55

Aussies eager to nab cheap airfares are in luck with Virgin Australia announcing half a million seats on sale.

The Aussie airline has flights as low as $55 one-way for domestic locations, with international prices starting from $319.

Sydneysiders keen to head to the laid-back beachside town of Byron Bay can do so for just $55 to Ballina or to the Sunshine Coast from as little as $75.

Travellers can also fly from Adelaide to Melbourne from $89 or Melbourne to the Gold Coast from $99.

If you prefer somewhere outside of Australia, there’s one-way economy flights from Sydney to Queenstown in New Zealand starting at $319.

If Fiji has been on your radar, you can fly to Nadi from Sydney for $459 return or a round-trip to Samoa (Apia) from $539.

You can also do a return trip to the popular tourist destination of Tokyo, Japan – from Sydney – for just $779.

The sale comes as Virgin Australia announced record business traveller growth as bookings reached more than 110 per cent of pre-Covid levels this month.

Virgin Australia Group chief commercial officer Dave Emerson encouraged Australians to take advantage of the cheap airfares as tickets are expected to go in a flash.

“January is a month synonymous with planning for the year ahead – looking at opportunities for holidays, business trips, connecting with family and friends or exploring a new part of the country – we have so many great fares on offer no matter the reason for travel,” Mr Emerson said.

The sale is on now until February 6, 2023, at midnight AEST, or unless sold out prior.

Travel is available on selected dates from March 1 and December 7.

All sale fares include Velocity Frequent Flyer Points earn and Status Credits, and from Monday until midnight AEST on February 10, 2023, Velocity members can earn Double Status Credits across the entire Virgin Australia network.
